Abstract:
A Mandala is more than just a circle; it is a symbol of wholeness and the cycle of life. It can be used as a healing and meditation tool to create a connection with our deepest spiritual source. It was C.G. Jung who first introduced the term Mandala (a Sanskrit word for circle) and he recognised its transformational power when he used it as an awareness tool for his patients.

"In the human body is hidden a certain metaphysical substance which… needs no medicine because it is itself the incorruptible medicine. The philosophers, through some divine inspiration, recognized the strength and heavenly virtue of this substance and how to free it from its fetters, not through...physical medicine, but by a similar medicine in itself." Gerhard Dorn, 1658 Alchemist

Abstract:
The day started uneventfully enough to paraphrase the opening of my debut novel, 'Beyond the Hedge'. The television was on as a much-needed diversion while I was hanging out some washing on a grey winters morning. As I stepped in from the cold, I heard a daytime TV guest say to her hosts, "The reason I like being a writer is that it allows me to escape from everyday reality and live in a world of my own creation." That one sentence caught my attention as effectively as a snorting, angry bull on the rampage.
