Soothingminds is a place for those interested in learning more about the many different forms of healing energy particularly  Western herbal medicine. Herbal medicine, also known as phytotherapy, is for most of the world's population, still mainstream medicine.   Frances Watkins is a medical herbalist trained in Western herbal medicine based in Hertfordshire with clinics in Bushey Heath, Kings Langley, St. Albans and Watford in Herts. She also facilitates herbal workshops at Reveley Lodge in Bushey Heath, Herts.

Frances is a member of both the National Institute of Medical Herbalists (NIMH) and the College of Practitioners of Phytotherapy (CPP). The National Institute of Medical Herbalists was founded in 1864 and recently celebrated its 150th anniversary. Council members decided to mark this major milestone in the history of the Institute, and of herbal medicine, with a variety of events including a commemorative book featuring herbalists from many different disciplines each sharing their knowledge of Western herbal medicine.

Entitled Herbal Exchanges the work is edited by Hananja Brice-Ytsma and Frances Watkins and is an eclectic mix of articles commissioned to celebrate this special occasion. Herbal heritage includes a synopsis of the history of NIMH and a detailed account of practising herbal medicine during the First World War in the East End of London.

An energy imbalance in any one of our bodies will eventually, if left untreated, manifest in some sort of illness. The body is simply expressing a cry for help by drawing attention to itself. 

Nature offers many healing remedies - we see them all around us without necessarily recognising them as tools to aid our wellbeing.  We can use physical and mental vibrations from our healing hands including Reiki healing energy and spiritual healing plus many other forms of complementary therapies.
